WOW, I’m still in complete shock over the end of this game! Yes, I was rooting for the Seahawks but anyone with a brain knows they blew it in the last few seconds with that awful call. Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson will be kicking themselves for a while.
I really just can’t understand why that call was made.
But let’s get to it!
The first quarter left much to be desired. It ended with 0-0, but both teams were playing well defensively.
Brandon LaFell scored the first touchdown of the game for the Patriots to kick off the second quarter. Marshawn Lynch went full “beast mode” and responded with touchdown tying things up 7-7.
The Patriots made an impressive drive that ended with a touchdown by Rob Gronkowski, giving the Pats a 14-7 lead late in the second quarter.
The first half ended with an AMAZING catch and touchdown by Seahawks rookie Chris Matthews, to tie the score at 14-14.
There was so much buzz around Katy Perry‘s halftime performance this week. Lenny Kravitz was slated to perform alongside Perry, but there was very little talk about Missy Elliot until about yesterday. I guess most missed the memo because social media blew up with excitement when Missy took the stage.
MISSY KILLED IT! She honestly stole the show because after she got off stage, it seems like no one cared about Katy’s performance except to just make a million memes about her looking like this:
Missy gave us exactly what we wanted, the perfect hip-hop throwback! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t twerking in my bedroom and screaming “YASSSSSSS” when “Lose Control” came on.
But despite the naysayers, I think Katy did a good job! Sadly, I wasn’t a fan of her outfit choices. But her entrance was amazing on a robotic lion and she was dope for bringing a little taste of an LA beach on stage with her.
Plus, you can’t deny, the girl can sing! I’d like to see any of you Internet trolls belt out those notes with confidence during the biggest game of the NFL. Let Katy live! Sheesh.
I think we can all agree there was a very sad, somber tone to this year’s SuperBowl XLIX commercials. Less of the witty, funny or obnoxious commercials we expected, and more heartfelt tear jerkers that brought awareness to serious issues.
The marketing giants Coca-Cola and Budweiser continued their reign with some of the most touching ads. C’mon Budweiser you can’t have a puppy and a horse be best friends in one commercial and expect me not to shed a tear!
It was a big night for prosthetic legs and dad’s. I also loved Bryan Cranston’s Walter White/Heisenberg cameo in Esurance’s second ad of the night.
Fiat had a good one– but honestly it did more for Viagra than the car!
And one of my absolute favorites was the Bud Light Real Life Pacman #UpForWhatever commercial! It was so dope.

Now this is where things really got interesting!
The Seahawks came out hungry for more after that fantastic end of the first half. Within minutes, they intercepted a Patriots pass and scored a touchdown making it 24-14 Seahawks. Brady down by 10? I seriously thought it was all over.
The half continues and the Pats turn the game around. Fourth quarter touchdown passes by Brady give the Pats a 4pt. lead (28-24) with 2:30 to go.
Jermaine Kearse makes the catch of a lifetime for the Seahawks and it was starting to feel like they had the Lombardi trophy within reach. I mean honestly that catch was crazy, almost at good as NY Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s catch this season. I might be reaching a bit far with that one (all the men reading, please don’t chew my head off), but it was impressive.
But WOW, Patriots strong safety Malcolm Butler easily became the hero of the game when he intercepted a pass in front of Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette in the end zone during the final seconds. The game was over!
Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots get their fourth Super Bowl championship win!
I know tensions were high, but it really made the Seahawks look like sore losers when they started fighting in the end zone after that play. They really have themselves to blame! It was a great game that came down to one bad call, and that’s just a pill the Seahawks are going to swallow until next season. I have a feeling they’ll be NFC Champs again next year, and right back at the SuperBowl. Or at least, they should strive to be. They have a lot more work to do offensively, and need to redeem themselves for that awful finish.
But all in all, it was a great game! And undoubtedly one of the best Super Bowls in NFL history. WAY MORE entertaining than last year’s blowout game with the Seahawks & Denver Broncos. Sorry Peyton!
BONUS: BEST KATY PERRY PERFORMANCE MEMES
Alright I know I just defended her, but these are just too good. I’m just going to let these speak for themselves! Still crying of laughter cause these all made my night! Thank you Twitter, Tumblr & Facebook for these gems.
So tell me, who’d you bet on this year? I hope you didn’t end up like Sherman…
