I love Spring in New York City. Yes, I suffer from allergies like most and it sucks.
I’m constantly carrying around tissues, Mucinex, Claritin, more tissues, a nasal spray, yadda yadda. You get the picture.
But the rest of it is great. It’s not too cold, and finally warm enough to wear a smaller jacket. Lately we’ve had exceptionally warm days. I had to take advantage of it!
Brunch – Scottadito Osteria Toscana – Park Slope, Brooklyn
Between my part time job and freelancing, I almost never get a Sunday off to myself. I was lucky enough to have this past weekend off, and I decided to do what New Yorkers live for on Sunday’s: brunch!
My girl Janet and I decided to check out Scottadito in Park Slope, Brooklyn. For $20, you can enjoy unlimited mimosa’s or champagne and your choice of an entree.
I immediately fell in love with the rear interior seating. It’s sectioned off by a curtain from the rest of the restaurant. The brick walls are elegantly laced with vintage Italian art, wood paneling on the ceiling allows for natural light to flow, and the tables face a cute outdoor seating area, that also allows natural light in.
I felt relaxed and at home from the moment I sat down.
Me and Janet decided to share our entrees. We tried out the Pane Dolce Al Frutti Di Bosco, which is Italian for French Toast with powdered sugar and seasonal berries, and the Frittata Com Vegatli which is an Italian style omelette. Both were absolutely delicious, especially the omelette! They’re served with home fries, and a side of spinach and tomatoes.
Between the savory brunch options, authentic rustic Italian decor, and great service, it’s safe to say I’ll be returning on my next weekend off! You can check out Scottadito’s full menu here.
We left brunch feeling like we were on Cloud 9. It was sunny and just a bit breezy, so we decided to head to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to enjoy the cherry blossoms & other flowers that Spring has blessed us with.
But not before an impromptu photo shoot around Park Slope! The sun was too good to pass up.

Brooklyn Botanical Gardens – Brooklyn, NY
Janet and I met up with a couple of other friends at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. It was packed! I guess everyone had the same idea we did, lol.
Just a note: Janet and I got in for free with our Brooklyn College Student IDs! Good thing I kept that thing after graduation. Check out the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens homepage to find out if your school offers free admission to the grounds, and to stay updated on upcoming Spring events!
If the pictures weren’t enough, let me reiterate that I had such an amazing day.
I used to envy my sister Dominique and the fact that there are so many canyons and cool places to hike in LA. But it wasn’t until Sunday that I was reminded of the fact that there are beautiful places like this to enjoy right in my own borough. I guess being a jaded New Yorker makes you forget about that sometimes. The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens was the perfect afternoon escape.
I’m on a mission to fall in love with my city in a new way each and every day and I hope you guys will too. Take a closer look at the beauty that surrounds you, and enjoy it.
Have you guys checked out Scottadito? or been to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens lately? How are you guys enjoying Spring so far?
